Dining out in Harrogate

24/08/2010

Last night I had the pleasure of dining out with some fab people. Firstly, my friends and property/social media mentors Vanessa Warwick (@4_walls) and Nick Tadd (@Nick_Tadd) We were joined by John Paul (@TheLHAEXpert) from the Castledene Group based in Easington in the North East who I hadn’t met before however heard lots of good stuff about.

We met up at the Pine Martin in Beckwithshaw, Harrogate. This is a lovely place, country pub style with its own separate restaurant and en-suite bedrooms. The food is highly recommended as are the cask ales, I’m quite partial to both Timothy Taylor’s Landlord and Black Sheep however I was driving so had to abstain.

Vanessa and Nick had travelled up from Guildford as part of a filming project that they are doing for the Royal Horticultural Society at their Harlow Carr gardens.

The Royal Horticultural Society’s garden Harlow Carr is one of four public gardens run by the Society. It is located on the western edge of Harrogate in the English county of North Yorkshire The garden is the most recent addition to the RHS, acquired by the merger of the Northern Horticultural Society with the RHS in 2001. It had been the Northern Horticultural Society’s trial ground and display garden

John entertained us recounting how he became involved in the property industry. He is now a full time Property professional, who has built up a sizable portfolio of high cash-flowing properties for himself using strategies he developed mainly through managing effectively tenants in receipt of Local Housing Allowance and ensuring that he gets paid direct. It must be working as he has an almost 98% success rate.

We were also discussing the ethics around No Money Down ‘NMD’ property deals, a subject that Vanessa and I in particular feel very passionate about.

The food came and it was delicious!

We started with a shared platter of warm breads with oil/balsamic dip and olives, the bread was so fresh and tasty..mmm!

For my main I had Pang Pang Chicken. This is a warm chicken salad with Asian greens, satay and cashew nuts.

We skipped pudding (good thing as I need to lose a few pounds) and enjoyed a couple of coffees followed by more chat.

A thoroughly enjoyable evening with great friend’s, can’t wait to do it again soon.
